Thanksgiving with the parents in Kirkland, WA…
I have a spelling checker;
It came with my PC.
It plainly marks four my revue
Mistakes I cannot sea.
I’ve run this poem threw it;
I’m sure your pleased too no.
It’s letter-perfect in it’s weigh.
My checker tolled me sew.
I didn’t take a lot of pictures at The Pixies gig at The Paramount in 11/12…Kirsten and I were too busy screaming our throats out signing along. She woke up with a sore neck from headbanging the next morning…I woke up with a trashed larynx. Ah, youth!
I love that they played the “UK Surf” version of “Wave of Mutilation” during one of the encores. It was a treat, to catch them again live and to be reminded of who really set me on the road to playing bass guitar (obsessive listening to Doolittle, Surfer Rosa, Come On Pilgrim, Master of Puppets, …And Justice For All, The Winding Sheet, Pump Up The Volume, Goo, etc., mostly on cassette).
Weird Al Yankovic guest stars in our latest, Know Your Meme: Auto-Tune!
Went for my second actual jog this week…the previous one was the first real jog in 18 years, ouch. 1.1 miles around the Brighton Playfield & Aki Kurose is currently a stretch…bought some running shoes up in Greenwood for it…Lightning Bolt make excellent running-metal.
I loathed jogging for years…but, I seem to be allergic to gyms and to riding my bike with Seattle drivers. We’ll see how this running thing goes…

Nirvana — Something in the Way
I appreciated this tune less during my senior high school year, when Nevermind dropped…I was obsessed with playing “Drain You”, “Stay Away” and the footage of “Negative Creep” from “1991: The Year Punk Broke” repeatedly, jumping around the room with my beat-up Takamine metal-fin electric bass unplugged & strapped on, trying to play the bass as low on my right knee as possible, like my hero Kris Novoselic (which trashed my left wrist…it seems I’m not meant to play bass the way he does). I appreciated “Something In The Way” more as the years piled on…it was nice to hear it in “Jarhead” during the protagonist’s dream sequence. Creepy little tune about feelin’ lonesome, or something…
One of my favorite net-memes comes full-circle via The Cookie Monster & Ella from Rocketboom…
“Sonic Fabric is woven from 50% recorded audiocassette tape & 50% polyester thread.”
I’ve never been one to wear ties to interviews, or in general…I might make an exception for one of these tape-ties.
Today was made for pho.
